Easy Acoustic Guitar Lessons

Last week I started publishing the Fingerpicking Friday video series again. There’s just something about fingerstyle guitar that sounds great! Seeing that it’s Friday again I have the next video ready for you.

In this second video we’ll be playing a reverse pattern of last week’s pattern. Now it’s not 100% reversed. Last week we played PIMA and this week it’s PAMI. Seems simple but this change makes a big difference indeed.

I also included a new percussive pattern for you. I then played the normal arpeggiated pattern followed by the more percussive approach.

Arpeggio simply means broken chord.

This is the kind of thing you’ll do when you’re performing a song. Having two different approaches is very helpful because it allows you to differentiate clearly between say a verse and a chorus. There’s nothing more boring than just using one pattern throughout the whole song and never never changing things around.

In future videos I will show you how I use various strumming patterns along with fingerpicking and some percussive techniques to spice up a simple acoustic guitar part.

Now if you’re a beginner then it’s perfectly alright to stick with one pattern for a while. You just started to learn acoustic guitar so it’s totally cool to cut yourself some slack! Remember if you go too fast then you’re not going to learn this stuff properly. So go slow!

Guitar Chords For Beginners

Lastly the chords are also slightly different this time. I used G, Am7, Cadd9, Dsus4 and D. They sound great and they’re easy to play. If you’re looking for some guitar chords for beginners feel free to visit my other site that’s entirely devoted to chords.
